resources and energy shortage, pollution, climate change, overpopulation, poverty, disease and economic
crisis. They will be decisive in assisting the change from the traditional model of development, grounded on the
consumption of colossal amounts of resources, to the sustainable management of our planet.
International cooperation and openness will be key ingredients in enabling Science and Technology to promote
a less unbalanced world and a better future for Humankind.
